Taking the Leap for Something Bigger: Matthew’s Story

When Matthew Pascazi joined Greystone Programs just a month ago, he didn’t expect that one of his first big commitments would involve jumping out of a plane. What started as a lighthearted comment during his interview, “Are you going to leap?”, quickly became something much more meaningful. Today, Matthew is preparing to take part in our 10th Annual Leap for Autism, combining a personal challenge with a purpose-driven mission to support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
“I saw it as a chance to do something I never thought I’d do,” Matthew shares. “But what really stood out to me was the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for such an important cause.”

As a registered Nurse, this experience is about more than the jump, it is deeply personal. With a wife who works in special education and close relationships with individuals with developmental disabilities, he has long understood the importance of community, support, and access to resources. Now, as a nurse, he sees it from another perspective as well. “There are times when individuals aren’t treated the same or don’t have access to the same opportunities,” he explains. “That’s why raising awareness and funding matters, it helps create better outcomes and a stronger future.” At Greystone Programs, that mission comes to life every day by supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in living full, meaningful lives.
While skydiving may seem like the boldest part of Matthew’s journey, what’s happening around it is just as powerful. What started as an individual decision has quickly turned into a shared experience. His family and friends have rallied behind him, not only cheering him on, but actively contributing to his fundraising efforts and planning to attend the event together. “It’s become something bigger than just me,” he says. “It’s brought people together in a really special way.” Through simple outreach, group chats, and reconnecting with people in his network, Matthew has turned his leap into a moment of connection and collective impact.
One of the most powerful parts of Matthew’s story is his perspective on giving. He is quick to remind others that participation does not have to look one specific way. You do not have to skydive, and you do not have to give a large donation. What matters is showing up in whatever way you can. “Even a small contribution makes a difference,” he shares. “If everyone gives a little, it adds up to something really impactful.”
As the Leap for Autism approaches, Matthew hopes his story inspires others to get involved. Whether that means registering to skydive, starting a team, fundraising from the ground, or making a donation, every action contributes to a larger movement of support, awareness, and inclusion. “You don’t have to jump out of a plane to be part of this,” he says. “Just take that first step, learn more, and find your way to get involved.”
The 10th Annual Leap for Autism is more than an event, it is a powerful day of community, courage, and collective impact. Because when we come together, take bold steps, and support one another, we create opportunities for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to thrive.
