For Candice, participating in the Leap for Autism is more than an adrenaline-filled experience, it is a meaningful way to support families, raise awareness, and stand behind a cause that is deeply personal to her.

Now preparing for her fourth Leap for Autism, Candice has become a familiar and inspiring presence at one of Greystone Programs, Inc.’ most celebrated events. While she does not have a formal connection to the organization beyond the event itself, her continued commitment speaks volumes.
“It’s meaningful to me,” she shares. “I think it’s great what they do, and I enjoy being part of it.”
Her motivation begins with family. Candice’s nephew, Jason, is autistic, and that personal connection has made the mission of the Leap especially important. She also knows other families who have benefited from services and supports for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, giving her an even deeper appreciation for the importance of community resources.
For Candice, raising awareness is about helping people see individuals with disabilities through a lens of dignity, equality, and opportunity.

“People with disabilities don’t need to be treated differently,” she says. “They’re people just like we are.”
That belief is one of the many reasons she continues to take the leap year after year. She understands that awareness can lead to understanding, and understanding can create stronger, more inclusive communities.
Beyond the powerful mission, Candice says the event itself is something special. From families gathering together, to great food, music, and activities, the day creates an uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved.
“It’s really a lot of fun,” she says. “Great music, great food, great people.”
She especially values the opportunity for families to connect with others who may be navigating similar experiences, while also celebrating the talents and creativity of vendors and participants, including individuals with developmental disabilities showcasing their work.
Candice’s fundraising approach is rooted in authenticity and heart. Many supporters are first drawn in by the idea of her skydiving, but what keeps them engaged is the reason behind it.
“They know how much my nephew means to me,” she says. “This is for your family. It’s for my family. It’s for everybody’s family.”
She describes her leap as something bigger than one person or one story, a symbol of support for all families and for individuals whose voices are too often overlooked.
“I’m jumping for everybody without a voice,” she shares.
As this year’s Leap for Autism approaches, Candice hopes others will come out and experience it for themselves. Whether participating, donating, or simply attending to cheer others on, she believes everyone can be part of the day in some meaningful way.
“Everybody should just experience it one good time,” she says. “Even if you just come out for the day to watch, it’s definitely a great experience.”
Candice’s story is a reminder that when passion meets purpose, even the boldest leap can become an act of love, advocacy, and community.
