HOME
BEHAVIOR THERAPY PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
The
Home Behavior Therapy Program is designed to improve the quality of family life,
providing family members with training, support, information and behavioral
services directly in the family home.
LOCATION OF SERVICES
Services
are provided in the home for parents/care providers who have a child or adult
with a developmental disAbility (Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster and Columbia
Counties).
FREQUENCY OF SERVICES
As needed, but typically every 4-6
weeks, usually in the early evening when all family members are available.
FUNDING
This
service is funded through a Family Support Grant through TACONIC Developmental
Disabilities Service Office (DDSO), the local office of New York State Office of
Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD).
Additional services may be requested through private pay options.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to enroll in a Family
Support Service program, an individual with a developmental disAbility must
reside at home. In very basic
terms, a developmental disAbility is a disAbility that is attributed to mental
retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism or neurological impairment; or a
closely related condition that results in similar impairment of general
intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior to that of a person with mental
retardation or requires treatment and services similar to those required for
such a person. This disAbility must
arise prior to age 22 and be expected to continue indefinitely and is a substantial
handicap to functioning normally in society. As part of our intake to this program, we will ask for
developmental disAbility information. Please
be aware that enrolling in this program does not confirm the developmental
disAbility of an individual, nor mean that the individual is eligible for any
other services from the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and
Developmental Disabilities.
